Who benefits from aging in place?

Everyone.  Now that might seem confusing to you.  But the reality of the matter is that if you are thinking about aging in place then you have a concern about your safety.  This is primarily a concern for those of the older generations, but the concern snowballs down to their children, friends, grandchildren and caregivers.

Hurricane Season Approaches

As June 1st approaches we have many thoughts of what our summer holds.  Many will be planning for vacations, visits from family and friends and great times at the beach or park.

Prepare your family by picking up hurricane guides when they become available in your local area.  Talk to your children about what these storms may be like and what to do during them.  Stock up on bottled water, canned good, flashlights, batteries.  Don't forget the unnecessary items that will get  you through the days when you may have to wait for power and cable.  Box a few games, cards, coloring books, puzzles....anything to help pass the time.

The DANGERS of MOLDS

I am writing to inform your good office of the escalating mold problem inside my unit on the exterior wall at the head of my bed  that must be remediate as soon as possible before the situation gets worse and the molds aerosolize or spread. Some literatures that I have read stated that any activity of mold could produce mycotoxins that can cause allergenic reactions, sinus infections and many more diseases that can be acquired from airborne viruses.

It is also mentioned in some write ups (i.e, Mold Remediator Supervisor Training Handouts) that moisture levels above 17% and relative humidity above 60%, which is the case in my unit bedroom, mold will continue to grow. There are some molds that are toxic and fatal. The dangers brought about by molds were traced back as early as the Old Testament of the Holy Bible were people are advised to vacate the premises infected by greenish or reddish material for these have serious health effects               (Leviticus Chapter 14:37-57 of the Holy Bible) . The curse of the Egyptian Pharaohs whose excavators died after a month or two was later linked to mold poisoning via airborne deadly viruses. I am not exaggerating. All I am mentioning are facts from a research I personally conducted.

I am telling you this information to make you understand the gravity of the situation I am in. I believe It is a law and it is my duty that I should inform you about the presence of mold in my unit and it is your obligation and responsibility to address this problem immediately.       

I am certain that the property damages that these molds had caused are covered under the Condo insurance policy. With this I am sure we won’t have any problem when it comes to the finances to remediate this mold infestation and have an industrial hygienist (e.g. Mckee Environmental, Inc., Healthy Environments, LLC and etc.) to check the situation and abide by IICRC guidelines of the Virginia Law on Molds Abatement effective July 1^st , 2011.

MARJOS Christmas Party Celebrated

MARJOS has concluded another successful christmas party this year. Every year MARJOS's christmas party is held on the first Saturday of December. All guests that attended this year party were very satisfied with the outcome. Food and beverages were just great and everyone had a good time. Mr. Tom Davis, the owner, raffled some prizes for the faithful customers.  After the successful party it was agreed that a customer appreciation party will be held in the middle of the year so everyone can get together at least twice a year.

BEWARE OF REMODELING SCAM

Beware of remodeling contractors that initialy estimate your renovation as cheap as possible to get the job and tell you when the job is on-going that there are additional items that you need to pay aside from the original amount you contracted them. Remember that a decent bathroom makeover cost a minimum of $10,000.00 and a decent kitchen makeover cost around $ 20,000.00. The kind of kitchen and bathroom works pertaining to this amount is a complete makeover that will give your kitchen or bathroom a new look with the newest high-end materials. With this kind of remodeling price you can now estimate for yourself how much will be the average price if your work is not a total rehab.
